Farms Not Arms

is a collective of individuals and organizations working together to build an integrated farm model to target food security, climate change, and social cohesion. It was originally incubated as a project idea within NY-based NGO and community Peace Accelerators in early 2018, but then it separated from it in end of 2019 and became its own independent collective, spearheaded by ioi strategic design. As a collective, we started working together to turn the concept of Farms Not Arms into an extensive design process of solution building.

Since then, Farms Not Arms has morphed beyond one organization into a consortium of different organizations and individuals committed to the mission of reimagining the future of food in an equitable way to help underserved communities have access to nutritious food while contributing to solving climate change.

Our first consortium event in NYC, a design sprint with initial FNA members. Refugees, architects, and designers talking over the phone.

Despite living in a world currently beset by multiple complex, unruly problems, we do not despair but rather view this as an opportunity to come together, collaborate, and harness our collective mental power and expertise to build multidimensional solutions. Our team is always expanding and evolving based on the needs and expertise requirements of our work.

We embody the Earth Flag, designed by Oskar Pernefeldt in Sweden in 2015 as a symbol of unity and shared fate for all of the beings on Earth regardless of which country they are from.

We turn the flag green to reflect our environmental mission while embodying the ideals of the Earth Flag. We adopt the Earth Flag as our symbol, one of planetary unity that transcends borders, to represent the interconnectedness of us all and the importance of taking care of each other especially in the face of rising migration and changing climates. We turn the earth flag green to remind people that the root of our interconnectedness stems from the earth and that restoring our planet and restoring humanity starts by building Farms Not Arms.
